Violet Joyce Thomas, 91, of Eugene, Oregon, passed away on November 27, 2023. She was born August 3rd, 1932, in Renovo, Pennsylvania to Paul William Thomas and Christine Gweneth Snyder.
In 1951, Violet graduated from DuBois Area Joint High School in DuBois, Pennsylvania.
Violet is survived by her son Allan (Mindy Vegter) Brown of Fulton, IL, and daughters Bunnie (Gary) Hake, Eugene, OR, and Laurie (Mike) Feuerstack, Mesa, AZ. Grandsons Robert Hake of Eugene, OR, and Jeremiah (Destiny) Brown of Fulton, IL, granddaughter Dodi (Chase) Pickett of Springfield, MO, great-grandsons Sebastian and Silas Brown, and great-granddaughter Sidney Brown of Fulton, IL. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, all of whom will miss her terribly.
Preceded in death by her granddaughter Heidi Marie Muller and grandson Wesley Norman Muller III, parents Christine Gweneth Snyder and Paul William Thomas, and sister Lois Beryl Albert.
She worked behind the lunch counter at Woolworths in Clinton, IA. She was also a Sunday school teacher. She worked at and retired from General Electric in Morrison, IL, drove a school bus in Fulton, IL, and was a waitress at Country Kitchen in Clinton, IA. After retirement, she became a lunch lady in the Clinton Community School District and worked at several schools.
Violet loved riding her bike, and in her 60s decided to ride in the Iowa Rag Brai. She said it was exhausting but that she had the best time ever.
The burial will be at Chapel Hills Memorial Garden in Dixon, IL, and will be announced at a later date.
