Betty L. Vaile
Betty L. Vaile, age 86, of Sterling, died Monday, November 4, 2019 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Betty was born October 28, 1933 in Dixon the daughter of Max and Elda (Wasmund) John. She was employed at the Dixon Telegraph for 24 years as a press helper. Betty was involved in the Women’s Missionary Fellowship, was a church librarian, volunteered at Washington School and Bright Beginnings as a foster grandparent, and was a member of Sauk Valley Community Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, watching “Little House on the Prairie” and “Wheel of Fortune”, watching/listening to the Gaither Vocal Band and could be found in her kitchen baking cookies for her friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her children, Rosemary (Grady) Watson of Indianapolis, Ind., Gary (Deb) Vaile of Sherwood, Ark., Kenneth (Cheryle) Vaile of Bedford, Texas, Martin (Michelle) Vaile of Dixon and Edward (Lana) Vaile of Dixon; one brother, LaVerne (Delores) John of Fla.; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at Sauk Valley Community Church in Dixon. The funeral will be Saturday at 10:00 AM at the church with Pastor Andy Minch officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.
A memorial has been established to Sauk Valley Community Church in Dixon.
