Gladys A. Turner, 87, of Rockford, formerly of Dixon, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.
Gladys was born July 25, 1932 in Chicago the daughter of Rudolph and Irene (Clements) Schoenherr. She married Leonard Turner, Sr. on October 14, 1950 and was employed by the Dixon State School and Jack Mabley Developmental Center.She is survived by her husband of Rockford; seven children, Leonard (Brenda) Turner, Jr., Wayne (Mary) Turner, Steve (Sue) Turner, Brenda (Tony) Caruana, Gail Witmer Turner, Tammy (Gwynne Roberts) Turner and Heidi (Kevin) Oltmanns; daughter-in-law, Mary Saunders; her brother, Richard Schoenherr; her sister, Stella Michaels; eleven grandchildren, Tracey, Amy, Matthew, Kim, Elizabeth, Noelle, Nicole, Michele, Andrew, Jerod and Jordan; and 13 great grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan, Alicia, Noah, Caleb, Paxton, Hagan, Andy, Jon, Jacob, Dylan, Althea and Lily.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Reverend Thomas Doyle of St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
