Jean L Hubbell

DEKALB- Jean L. Hubbell, 88 of DeKalb, and formerly of Franklin Grove passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.

Jean was born on December 9, 1929, the daughter of William and Lucy (Beaver) Haenitsch.

Surviving are three children, Marvin (Chris) Hubbell of Rock Island, Connie (Roger) Young of Woodstock, and Denise Ross of Elburn; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and 5 siblings.

Preceding her in death are her parents; one daughter, Sharon Hubbell; son-in-law, Norman Ross; granddaughter, Angela Young; and two brothers.

Jean was a loving, caring, and hard-working women.  She was a large part of the family business, Hubbell’s Garage in Amboy. She drove a school bus for Franklin Grove Schools for 17 years, and later worked for Casey’s for over 20 years. This work ethic was a positive foundation that was instilled and carried on by her children in their adult lives. 

When Jean wasn’t working, you could find her doing many things as she truly had many talents.  She enjoyed crocheting and quilting, and she even had a large garden and would can and pickle many of the produce she harvested.  But her favorite thing was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 1121 North Galena Avenue, Dixon, IL.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Frank Brozenec officiating.  Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon.
