Welcome to the memorial page for

Ruth Caroline (Schafer) Metz

May 1, 1921 ~ April 23, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

DIXON- Ruth Caroline Metz, 95 of Dixon passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Dixon Healthcare.

Ruth was born on May 1, 1921 in Dixon, the daughter of Roy C. and Amanda M. Albrecht-Schafer.

Surviving is her daughter, Sandra K. Metz of Dixon.

Preceding her in death are her parents; son, Kenneth Metz; and sister Irene McMillion and her husband Mac.

Ruth was a strong, loving, and wonderful mother.  She was fighter through everything that came her way in life, including the loss of her son who died at the age of 3.  She worked hard to provide for her daughter, and taught her the value of hard work.  She worked for Borg Warner for 26 years until she retired in 1988.

Reading, word searches, and watching game shows and soap operas are only a few of the things you could find Ruth doing.  She was a long time Cubs fan and member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dixon. You could also find Ruth spending time with her daughter and best friend, Sandra.

Ruth will be greatly missed by all those that knew her.

A gathering of friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017.  A Celebration of her life will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Joseph O’Donnell officiating at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 1121 N. Galena Ave., Dixon.  Burial of cremated remains will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Ruth’s honor to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 421 Peoria Avenue, Dixon, IL 61021.
