Sandra Louise Herbon

DIXON- Sandra L. Herbon, 76 of Dixon, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. 

Sandra was born on February 14, 1941 in Stuttgart, AR., the daughter of Porter and Flora Marie (Escue) Gill.  She married her loving husband, Richard E. “Dick” Herbon on July 21, 1979 in Dixon. 

Surviving is her husband, Richard; daughters, Johnette Garrison Gifford of Dixon and Debra Durband Echelberger of Roscoe, IL; step-daughters, Pamela (Tony) Maloney of Windsor, CO and Brenda Skendzel of Berthoud, CO; grandchildren, Bradley and Blake Burke, Ronaka (Rustin Floto) Gifford, and Chanler Echelberger; great grandchildren, Kayden Smith and Jameson Floto; step grandchildren, Jacey and Kady Maloney, and Keria Skendel;  and sisters, Fronda Kay Claeys, Daphne Jeanette Klopf, Flora Wyacille Metstauffer, and Noma Dell Ash.

Preceeding her in death are her parents; two sisters, Betty Jo Younger and Reba Ries; four brothers, Billy Gene Gill, Larry O’Dell Gill, Lonnie Leon Gill, and Jackie Hoyet Gill.

Sandy was a hard worker.  She worked for Borg Warner, General Electric, Anchor Coupling, and Wahl Clipper throughout her working life.

Sandy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.  She truly loved her family and cooking for each of them.  They will miss her great home cooked meals.  Sandy loved to play cards and nickel machines.  She always won.

She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.

Visitation will be from 10:00am to 10:45am on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 1121 N. Galena Ave, Dixon, IL.  A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at 11am with Pastor Myles Kukowski and Pastor Nate Meeks officiating.  Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
