Verna Knigge Obituary

Verna Ellen (Wright) Knigge, 88, passed away peacefully August 21, 2019 in Dixon, IL.

Verna was born October 24, 1930 in Tecumseh, NE to the late Johnie and Florence (Goldsby) Wright. She graduated from Tecumseh High School and Wayne School of Nursing in Chicago. She married Clemens E. Knigge September 2, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1992. Surviving to cherish her memory are children; Major Timothy (Lena) Knigge; Bambi (Tim) Key; Bettina “Tina” (Rick) Lyon; Steven Knigge; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and longtime friend, Ed Jacobsen.

Verna was a lifetime member of the First UMC and worked at Lawton Dairy; was a cosmetologist at Kline’s Department Store; manager of House and Town Shop; then as a nurse at Camp Reynoldswood.

Visitation will be Monday, August 26, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Dixon. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 AM at the church with Pastor Tim Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: United Methodist Women, Sauk Valley College Nursing or to Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon, IL.
