Clinton G. Himes Sr., 88, of Franklin Grove, formerly of Dixon, passed away at 1:50 PM Sunday (October 18, 2015) at Franklin Grove Living & Rehab Center in Franklin Grove.
He was born on April 16, 1927 in Oregon, IL to Ira & Ruth (Long) Himes. He married the former Carol J. Potter on February 1, 1983. She preceded him in death on March 7, 2002.
He is survived by his stepchildren: Patricia (Harold) Lempke of Dixon, Fern E. (Daniel Sr.) Nuttall of Nelson, Raymond Reidl of Dixon, Edmond Reidl of Dixon and Gail Krebs of Eldena; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 2 sons, Bill Himes and Clinton Himes Jr.
He served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from Rockwell in Rockford.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10-11 AM Friday at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon.
Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Friday at the funeral home followed by Military graveside rites by the Combined Dixon Veterans Organizations at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.
