Donald Duncan

January 17, 1926 ~ August 1, 2016 (age 90) 90 Years Old

MOUNT MORRIS – Donald Duncan, 90, of Mount Morris, passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at Pinecrest Manor in Mount Morris.

Donald was born Jan. 17, 1926, in Buffalo Township in Polo, the son of Fred and Hattie (Lockner) Duncan. He married Betty Heng on Sept. 9, 1950. Donald proudly served in the Army as a corporal during World War II. He worked for 40 years as a bookbinder, and was a proud union officer from 1960 to 1980. Donald will fondly be remembered by many as the “Bicycle Man,” as he had a bicycle shop for many years. Family and friends will most remember Donald as an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. His talkative personality will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are his wife; four children, David (Melissa Haas) Duncan of Polo, Melody (Gary Kiper) Cates of Lancaster, Wisconsin, Randy (Kathy Kurdelmeier) Duncan of Minneapolis, and Lloyd Duncan of Mount Morris; six grandchildren, Kraig, Kristin, Christopher, Benjamin, Isaac, and Tabitha; and one great-grandchild, Cecilia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Wilma and Ruth; and one brother, Robert.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday, and the funeral at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 1121 Galena Ave, Dixon. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

Memorial contributions may be directed in Donald’s honor to a charity of the donor’s choice.
