Donald E. Johnson

Donald E Johnson, 86, of Sanford, NC – formerly of Dixon, IL and Ashton, IL went home to be with the Lord on May 22, 2025. Donald was born April 18, 1939 in Dixon, IL, son of Otto and Evelyn Johnson. He served in the US Army from 1962-1968 as a Military Policeman. He married Mary L Gaul on November 2, 1972. Donald was a member of Ashton Bible Church in Ashton, IL. Donald is survived by his wife, Mary, step-son Gerald (Kathy) Gaul of Colorado Springs, CO, stepdaughter Deborah (Edward) Wittleder of Sanford, NC, four grandchildren, Matt (Sonya) Wittleder, Mark (Rosie) Wittleder, Nicole (Cactus) Caldwell and Courtney (Andrew) Waugaman. Seven great grandchildren, Nathan and Josh Wittleder, Drew, Sadie and Evie Wittleder, Poppy Caldwell and Samantha Waugaman. Sisters Joyce Hoyle of Dixon and Judy Harshbarger of Bloomington, IL. He is proceeded in death by his parents, one sister Bernice Jones and one brother Otto Jr and one nephew Steve Hoyle. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Ashton Bible Church.
