Donald “Don” C. Lawson, Jr. passed away at Consulate Healthcare in Altamonte Springs, FL on June 21st, 2022, at age 84. He was born on March 13th, 1938 in Dixon, IL to Donald Sr. and Erma (Rutherford). He graduated from Dixon High School in 1956. He joined the Navy in November 1956, taking recruit training at Great Lakes. He studied electronics in San Francisco, later going aboard the USS Orleck DD 886, which took him all around the Pacific.
He is survived by his sister, Leta Stewart (Lawson), children Mark and Jeffrey Lawson, and Jennifer Sliwa (Lawson), and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth, and son, James. Don will always be remembered as a kind and humble man that was proud of his hometown, his service in the Navy, his family and friends, and his love of the Chicago Bears.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 10:30am at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon, IL, section M, lot 70. The family will greet friends and family at the Loveland Community Center immediately following.
