Dorothy L. Helfrich

          Dorothy L. Helfrich, age 84, of Dixon, died Friday, December 20, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

          Dorothy was born July 1, 1935 in Dixon the daughter of Robert and Pearl (Green) Weems.  She married David Helfrich, Sr. on February 8, 1952 in Dixon.  He preceded her in death on September 14, 2000.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, doing jigsaw puzzles, coloring and loved her birds.

          She is survived by nine children, Janet Dean of Sterling, Sandy (Brian Camp) Lengquist of Rock Falls, Beckie (Gary) Patterson of Dixon, Pam (Dale) Shaffer of Dixon, Amy Samples of Rockford, Wendy (Rod) Steck of Dixon, David (Michelle Longtin) Helfrich, Jr. of Dixon, Aaron (Ashley) Keene of Alta, Iowa and Joshua (Robin) Keene of Mt. Morris; two brothers, Kenneth (Cora) Weems of Seattle, Wash. and Richard (Nikki) Weems of Texas; 23 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

          She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four children, Peggy Sweet, Susan Keene, Vickie Helfrich and Kelly Helfrich; and one brother, Robert “Bud” Weems.

          Visitation will be Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon.  The funeral will be Friday, December 27, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Wayne Epps of Calvary Baptist Church in Dixon officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

          In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Serenity Hospice.
