Earl J Bennyhoff “Benny”, 94, of Sun City West, AZ, formerly of Dixon and Rockford, IL, died September 9, 2015.
He was born on June 29, 1921 to Fred and Frieda (Smithson) Bennyhoff of Loogootee, Fayette County, IL. He married Mabel L Potter on May 15, 1943 in Dixon, IL. She preceded him in death in 1998.
He attended Illinois College prior to joining the U.S. Army Air Forces in August 1942.
He had a long career as an electrical engineer for Commonwealth Edison, Co. in Dixon and Rockford, IL. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Arizona in 1985.
In addition to his wife, Mabel, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Grace Haynes, LaRue Bennyhoff, and Zane Bennyhoff. Survivors include two daughters, Holly Bennyhoff (Linda Walker) of Phoenix, AZ and Mary Wilder (Steve) of Spokane, WA; two granddaughters; three great grandchildren; siblings Donn Bennyhoff of Mustang, OK and Joyce Black of Farina, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life was held in Arizona. Interment will be Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon, IL, at a later date.
Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon is in charge of local arrangements.
