Edward L. Novak, Jr., age 73, of Dixon, died Monday, August 28, 2023 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Ed was born July 5, 1950 in Chicago the son of Edward L., Sr. and Josephine (Buerger) Novak. He was employed as a Correctional Officer in Cook County and the Dixon Correctional Center. Ed was a family-oriented person who referred to himself as everyone’s grandpa. He was an avid drummer for 58 years and enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by his significant other, Ginny Novak of Dixon; his children, William (Kathy) Novak of Springfield, John (Lisa) Novak of Bloomington, Heather (Justin) Guy of Morton, Crystal Cooper of Dekalb, and April Queckboerner of Dixon; one sister, Debbie (Bruce) Boreson of Franklin Park; four brothers, Greg (Annette) Novak of Chicago, Thomas Novak of Chicago, Daniel (Terese) Novak of Antioch, and James (Tara) Novak of Franklin Park; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John William Novak in infancy.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
