Eugene Donald Gallentine

  Eugene Donald Gallentine, 80, of Dixon died at 12:02 AM Sunday (December 29, 2013) at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford.

  He owned and operated Gene’s Service Inc. in Dixon for over 30 years.

  He was born on January 13, 1933 in Dixon to Leonard and Esther (Spigler) Gallentine.  He married the former Gwen Brooks on August 3, 1952 in the Brethren Church in Dixon.  She survives.

  Also surviving are two sons:  Douglas (Mary) Gallentine of Morris and Kyle (Donna) Gallentine of Dixon; 4 grandchildren:  Beth Simpkin of Roscoe, Nikki Greffin of South Beloit, Christie Horrie of Diamond and Rustin Galletine of Dixon and also 8 great grandchildren.

  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters:  Flossie Nelson and Phyllis Kerley.

  He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Dixon.

  Eugene was proud of his yard having won the Lawn of the Month several times.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father. 

  Private family services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon with Rev. John Kalebaugh officiating.  A private visitation will be held from Noon until time of services. 

 Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

  Memorials may be directed to End Polio Now or the American Heart Association.
