Freddie (Fred) K. Cover, 48, of Nelson, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Fred was born October 16th, 1966 in Dixon to Clarence & Gladys (Wilson) Cover. He married the love of his life, Wendy (Stees), on April 12th, 1985 at the Foursquare Church in Dixon.
A graduate of Dixon High School, he then enlisted, served and was honorably discharged from the United States Army, his final rank was that of Sergeant in the 60th Infantry Division, 3rd Battalion, Fort Lewis Army Base. He also worked as a Foreman for Imeco/Johnson Controls in-between farming his 22 acre farm in Nelson.
He was a member of the A.B.A.T.E. Harley Davidson Club and enjoyed many long rides on his Harley with his wife, Wendy. They dreamed of one day returning to their favorite location, Red Lodge, Montana. His family brought him much joy and comfort throughout his life and was particularly proud of his grandson, Emery.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Wendy (Stees); daughter Jackie (Ryan) Carey of Moline; son, Shawn (Shana Nagy) and their son Emery of Dixon; sister, Connie Rajnowski of Sterling; brothers, Randy Cover of Dixon & Roger Cover of Mt. Morris; his father and mother in-law Gearold & Margaret Stees of Nelson; brother in-laws Michael (Kristjan Gavin) Stees of Oakland, California; James Stees of Dixon and John (April Savord) Stees of Nelson; sister in-law Peggy Stees of Dixon and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a niece.
A visitation will be held Friday, July 17th from 4-7 PM at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon.
Graveside services with full military rites will be held Saturday, July 18th, at 11 AM in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon with the combined Dixon veteran organizations. Rev. Steve Casey will officiate.
