Gwendolyn L. Gallentine, 91, of Dixon, passed on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Heritage Square of Dixon.
Gwendolyn was born on October 22, 1934, the daughter of Leon and Pearl (Beatty) Brooks. She married Eugene Gallentine on August 3, 1952, at the Brethren Church of Dixon. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2013.
She proudly raised exotic birds and enjoyed caring for them. She collected art glass, especially pieces by Lalique. She loved nature and animals and found great joy in spending time with her birds and her dogs.
She is survived by her son, Doug (Mary) Gallentine of Dixon; one sister, Gloria Contreras of Dixon; four grandchildren, Beth (Eric) Simpkin of Minooka, IL, Nikki Gallentine of South Beloit, IL, Christie (Jason) Horrie of Coal City, IL, Rustin (Daphne) Gallentine of Dixon, IL and eight great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Kyle Gallentine; two brothers, Warren and James Brooks, and one sister, Sharon King.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 21,2026 from 9AM-10:30AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home at 10:30AM with Pastor Rick Sodergren, officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service and take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens of Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Heritage Square, Dixon.
