James Warren Stark, age 73, of Dixon, IL, passed away on August 4, 2023 at Dixon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Jim was born May 22, 1950 in Aurora, Illinois, the eldest son and 3rd child of Warren and Elaine (Dieter) Stark. Following graduation from Glenbard East High School, Jim pursued his carpentry career at trade school. He married Carla Little on August 24, 1974, and they made their life together in Winfield, IL for 43 years before retiring to Dixon, IL. Jim was a Union Carpenter for 4 decades, building houses and working for Esler Brothers and Bradford Systems over the years. His crew with Bradford installed the shelving units in the Harold Washington Library in Chicago IL. Jim enjoyed spending time at his property in Woodhaven Lakes, fishing, puttering in his tool shed, and creating woodworking projects including personalized Christmas ornaments that he and Carla made for their extended family and many nieces and nephews.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Carla; their son Nick (Jackie) Stark of Delavan, WI; grandchildren Alexander, Madeline, and David Stark; his 6 sisters Linda Gruber, Janice (Don) Prill, Nancy (Scott) Shirley, Peggy Whitman, Mary Alice Stark, and Laura Stark; brothers-in-law Don Heiden, Gary (Pat) Heiden, Ken (Wendy) Heiden, and sister-in-law Karen Haase; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, brothers Robert Stark and Thomas Stark, brothers-in-law Charles Gruber, Eugene Heiden, and Allen Heiden.
Memorial services will be private with interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Wheaton IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his wife Carla toward a memorial bench at his favorite fishing spot, or to Habitat for Humanity.
