John E. Sloter, age 74, of Dixon, died Sunday, September 11, 2022 in Davenport, IA.
John was born December 8, 1947, the son of Edward and Maxine (Masters) Sloter. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, 1st Infantry, Military Police. John was a member of the Carpenter’s Union, was employed at Airtite Construction and owned and operated B & H Excavating. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and loved frogs.
He is survived by his 3 sons, Chris Sheridan, Edward Sloter and Ken (Shauna) Sloter all of Dixon; five sisters, Billie, Marlene, Ruth Ann, Peg and Kathy; six grandchildren, Hannah, Kayleigh, Hayden, Emmy, MacKenzie and Evelynn; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Norma Jean; and one brother in infancy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from Noon – 4:00 PM at the Dixon VFW with military honors at Noon. A light luncheon will follow the military honors.
A memorial has been established.
