Marion Elizabeth (Emmert) Foster

  Marion Elizabeth Emmert Foster, 96, of Dixon died at 7:15 AM Tuesday (January 14, 2014) at her residence.

  She was born on September 22, 1917 in Dixon to Lloyd W. “Brownie” & Mary “Gracie” (Self) Emmert.  She married William P. “Pat” Foster on August 17, 1941 in St. Paul, Minnesota.  He preceded her in death on July 30, 2001. 

  She is survived by a son, William “Bill” (Sherill) Foster Jr. of Covington, GA; a daughter, Mary Beth (Dan) Zachary of Dixon; 4 grandchildren:  Holly Ann Foster, Brian James Foster, Erick Miller Zachary and Allison Leigh Zachary; 3 great grandchildren:  Kendyl Nimmons, Dominik Joseph Zachary and Chloe Elizabeth McArdle; and one sister, Hazel Louise Emmert Goff of Grand Haven, Michigan.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Lloyd William “Bud” Emmert Jr.

  She was educated in Dixon Public schools graduating from Dixon High School.  She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Dixon’s Women’s Club where she was Past President in 1985-1987, was a lifetime Honorary member on the Board of the Ronald Reagan Home Preservation Foundation where she was active in giving tours at the Reagan home, a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, the Dixon Garden Club and Meals on Wheels.  She also taught the Literacy Program at the Dixon Prison.

  Cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will take place at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.  The Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon is in charge of the arrangements.
