Mary E. Smith

Mary E. Smith, age 77, of Oregon, died Sunday, April 6, 2025 at her home.

            Mary was born April 20, 1947 in Dixon, IL, the daughter of David and Roberta (Phipps) Vancil.  She married Lloyd Smith on January 15, 1966 in Dixon.  He passed away on April 8, 2025. Mary was an LPN at Pinecrest in Mt. Morris for many years.

            She is survived by one daughter, Danielle Diaz of Oregon; one son, Robert (Deborah) Smith of Denver, NC; one sister, Robin Vancil of Rock Falls; one brother, David Vancil of GA; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Esther Smith; one brother, Dennis Vancil; and one son-in-law, Kenneth Diaz.

            A visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon.  The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Carlson officiating.  Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

            A memorial has been established.
