Mary Lou (Willstead) Smith

  Mary Lou Smith, 76, of Rochelle, IL, passed away at 5:10 AM Thursday (December 4, 2014) at her residence.

  A visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Monday at the First General Baptist Church at 500 South 12^th Street in Rochelle.

  Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday at the church.  Rev. Angelo Bonacquisti will officiate.

  Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

  The Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon is in charge of the arrangements.

  She was born on April 3, 1938 in Harmon, IL to Lester & Mary (Brown) Willstead.  She married Robert Lee Smith on December 10, 1959 in Dixon.   He survives in Rochelle.

  She is also survived by her children:  Becky Sheely of Columbia, MO, Lester Smith of Hennepin, John (June) Smith of Montgomery, AL, William (Velma) Smith of Decatur, Mary Austin of Rochelle and Bruce (Barb) Smith of Rochelle.  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings:  Sonny Willstead, Russell Willstead, Carol Lee Rowley, Pat Willstead, Tom Willstead, Sharon Sue Goss and Everett Willstead.

  She graduated from Amboy High School and was a babysitter to over 200 children over the years.

  She was a member of First General Baptist Church in Rochelle and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She adored all of her grandchildren.

  Memorials may be directed to the First General Baptist Church in Rochelle or to Serenity Hospice.
