Robert Lee Smith

  Robert Lee Smith, 74, of Rochelle, passed away at Noon Thursday (August 6, 2015) at O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

  He was born on May 6, 1941 in Dixon to John A. & Ruth May (Sack) Smith.  He married the former Mary Lou Willstead on December 10, 1959 in Dixon.  She passed away December 4, 2014.

  He is survived by his children:  Becky Sheely of Columbia, MO, Lester Smith of Hennepin, John (June) Smith of Montgomery, AL, William (Velma) Smith of Decatur, Mary Austin of Rochelle and Bruce (Barb) Smith of Rochelle; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a brother, Jack (Hilda) Smith of Dixon.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister, Ruth Ann Yoakum and 2 brothers:  Richard “Ted” Smith and Gerald Gene Smith.

  He graduated from Dixon High School and retired as the Farm Manager at Del Monte and also from the City of Rochelle.

  He was a Cub Scout Leader for many years and was an avid fisherman and loved Flea Markets and Garage Sales.

  A visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Monday at the First General Baptist Church in Rochelle.

  Funeral services will be at 10 AM Tuesday at the church.   Rev. Angelo Bonacquisti will officiate.

  Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

  The Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon is in charge of the arrangements.

  Memorials may be directed to the Rock River Center or to the First General Baptist Church in Rochelle.
