Shirley M. Dunbar

Shirley M. Dunbar, age 84, of Rock Falls, died Friday, September 29, 2023 at KSB Hospital in Dixon.

          Shirley was born June 1, 1939 in Dixon the daughter of John, Sr. and Gladys (Moser) Maronde.  She married Robert Dunbar on November 13, 1976 in Dixon.  He preceded her in death on November 6, 2014.

          She is survived by eight children, James (Debra) Risley of Dixon, Paula (Peter) Portner of Dixon, Reverend Robert, Jr. (Glenda) Dunbar of Dixon, Penny (Teresa) Portner of Dixon, Louise Jane Dunbar of Clarksville, TN, Patty Starr of Dixon, Billy Dunbar of Dixon; and Corey Dunbar of Dixon; two sisters, Peggy Wernick and Ruby (Kendall) Moser both of Dixon; 30 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

          She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one daughter, Olga Thompson; two sisters, Gladys Boos and Karen Tate; one brother, John Maronde, Jr.; one son in infancy; and one great grandson in infancy.

          A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon.  The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM with Reverend Robert Dunbar, Jr. officiating.  Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

          A memorial has been established.
