Shirley Elizabeth (Hittle) Dunham

APPLE RIVER – Shirley Elizabeth Dunham, 68, of Apple River, died Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Freeport Memorial HospitaShirley was born Aug. 17, 1947, the daughter of James Warren and Marguerite Evelyn (Thomas) Hess Hittle. She married Donald Dunham in 1965 in Peoria.

Shirley was an avid Chicago Bears fan, and had a collection of Chicago Bears attire and collectibles. She would often pick up new things anytime she saw them. When Shirley was not supporting her Chicago Bears, she could be found doing word searches, watching soap operas or old movies on AMC, or listening to Elvis.

Family and friends will most remember Shirley as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. She was kind-hearted and always had her own sense of humor.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna of Dixon, Deana (Tom) of Rock Falls, and Dawn (Marcus) Nettz of Dublin, California; grandchildren, Kara, Erin, Kelsi, Samantha, Alycia, Tom, Hailey, Devin, Alexis, and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Donivan, Logan, Abel, Xoe, Liam, Trinity, Carson, and Chloe; brothers, Sam, Bud Rich, James, Dave, and Tony; sisters, Ruthie, Donna, and Cindy; and her three loving Chihuahuas, Jose, Angel, and Gizmo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Donald

Memorials contributions may be made in Shirley’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
