Viola C. Bushman

            Viola “Vi” Bushman, age 97, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.

            Vi was born August 6, 1926 in Avon, SD, the daughter of Philip and Alma (Gentele) Schmoll.  She married Howard Bushman on August 12, 1961 in Dixon.  He preceded her in death in 1992.   She volunteered at KSB Hospital for 22 years and at a homeless shelter for 22 years.  Vi enjoyed making quilts at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon and helping at the Leydig Center.  She always had a smile and would help any and everyone.

            Vi is survived by her children, Bill Bushman of Dixon, Randy (Annette) Manthei of Kirkwood, and Diane (Roger) Meinen of Freeport; one brother, Arnold Schmoll; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

            She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Elizabeth Oorlong, Esther Stimpson, Lydia Craig, and Lenora Barker; brothers, Jake, Leonard, and Raymond Schmoll; and grandson, Zachary Behrens.

            A visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 from Noon – 1:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon.  The funeral will follow at 1:00 PM with Reverend Karen Tews officiating.  Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

            A memorial has been established.
