Virgil C. Page, Jr. , 82, formerly of Dixon, passed away December 10, 2014, at Pinecrest Terrace in Mt. Morris.
Born October 11, 1932, in Greenville, Missouri, to Virgil, Sr. and Eunice Page, he graduated from Franklin Grove High School in 1950 and DeVry Technical Institute in 1958.
He was briefly married to Shirley Wilson. Virgil served in the U. S. Army from 1952-1961. Ever a technician, Virgil worked at WBKB in Chicago as Cameraman, KSTT in Davenport as Studio and Transmitter Engineer and as Assistant Chief Engineer, WIXN in Dixon as Chief Engineer for the construction of the station (1961-62), WTTW in Chicago as technician, and at ABC in Chicago as Video Tape Engineer.
In 1995 Virgil was honored by CBS Television Network in Hollywood, California, for twenty-eight years of service, ending his career as Chief Tape Supervisor. He edited such shows as The Dinah Shore Show and The Price Is Right. Virgil loved playing the piano, the clarinet, his keyboards, and his accordion, which he often played in performances with The Little Burbank Theater, Burbank, California.
Other interests included flying his Cessna plane, studying religion, reading widely and laboring over his computers.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dixon, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gerald, of Brighton, Michigan, his former wife Shirley and his daughter Cherlyn Ferouge. Survivors include granddaughters: Cerise Cresher and Christine Butcher, both of CA; a sister-in-law Patricia Page of Brighton, Michigan, nephew Gerald Allen Page, niece Debra La Claire, many cousins, and special friends Robert Miller of Dixon and Albert Yanez of California.
Visitation is at 11 am and services at Noon Tuesday at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon with Rev. Bunyan Cocar officiating.
Interment with full military graveside rites provided by the combined veteran’s organizations will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.
