William “Bill” Wickens
William “Bill” Wickens, 66, of Bloomington, Illinois, formerly of Dixon, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer at Carle hospital with loved ones by his side.
He was born to Walter and Betty Wickens on November 18, 1954 in Lansing, Michigan. He married Earlene (McCann) on December 31, 1977 she preceded him in death on August 18, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his step-son, Dwayne McCann on August 21, 2020, and his parents and his beloved grandmother Minnie Eller.
He is survived by his daughters, Robin (Brian) Insley of Bloomington, Billie Jo (Doug) Brown of Hudson; step-daughter, Jean McCann of Dixon; 8 grandchildren, Alicia Insley, Brianna Insley and Hailee Insley all of Bloomington, Kaytlin Brown and Baize Brown of Hudson, Jessica Noah, Ashley McCann, Brooke McCann all of Dixon; 8 great grandchildren, Grayson, Kaylee, and Lai’lani of Bloomington, Jade, Kaydence, Ryleigh, Kenadie, and Ryker all of Dixon, his Fiance’, Elizabeth Robbins and a close family friend, Ken Jenney. He is also survived by his brothers, Walter (Kathy) Wickens, James Wickens, and Joe Wickens; his sisters, Marian Hill and Delores (Mark) Hess all of Dixon; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill previously worked at Flex-o-glass, Carquest and for Lee County in Dixon. In his free time, Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, listening to his old classic country music and playing cards with his family and friends. But he most enjoyed spending time with his daughters and all his grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be very deeply missed by all.
Visitation will be Friday, February 12, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon.
