Robert H. Hawks, age 85, of Dixon, died Monday, May 1, 2017 at Dixon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Robert was born May 12, 1931 in Rochelle the son of Wade and Katherine (Klapprodt) Hawks. He served in the US Marines and later worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation. Robert was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, racing and sports.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Marie (Frank) Ward of Burr Ridge and Brenda Hill of Dixon; two sons, Jeffrey Hawks of Dixon and Robert “Scott” Hawks of Madison, WI; and five grandchildren, Zachary (Lauren) Hill of Columbia, MD, Cody Hill of Arlington, VA, Tanner Hawks of Forreston, Payton Ward of Burr Ridge and Camryn Ward of Burr Ridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Diane in infancy; two sisters, Dorothy Hawks and Katherine Dunbar; and his former spouse, Barbara Hawks.
Visitation will be Friday, May 5, 2017 from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Reverend David Rogula officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Wounded Warrior Project.
